Recognizing Korea’s contributions to ±¬×ߺÚÁÏ
2026-07-22 - On 22 July, ±¬×ߺÚÁÏ Korean Fusion Day celebrates Korea’s contributions to ±¬×ߺÚÁÏ, with a special focus on the vacuum vessel. Next week, the fourth and final Korean-manufactured vacuum vessel sector will be transferred into the tokamak pit. Visit of Indian Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs Nirmala Sitharaman
2026-07-04 - Indian Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs Nirmala Sitharaman visits the ±¬×ߺÚÁÏ project on 4 July as part of an official four-day visit to France. She is welcomed to ±¬×ߺÚÁÏ headquarters by head of the Office of the Director-General Kattalai Ramachandran Sriram and Chief Scientist and Deputy Director-General Alain Bécoulet.
President of the Council of the European Union visits ±¬×ߺÚÁÏ

A visit highlight is the tour of the principal machine assembly spaces in the company of (left to right) the Chair of the Fusion for Energy (F4E) Governing Board Francesco Sette, ±¬×ߺÚÁÏ Director-General Pietro Barabaschi, and F4E Director Marc Lachaise.
38th ±¬×ߺÚÁÏ Council: ±¬×ߺÚÁÏ’s strong project execution continues
2026-06-25 - During the 38th meeting of the ±¬×ߺÚÁÏ Council on 25 and 26 June 2026, Members reaffirmed the importance of ±¬×ߺÚÁÏ's mission and demonstrated their strong dedication to ensuring the project's success. Progress against the 2024 baseline continues to be strong, with one milestone after another being achieved in the assembly and installation of the ±¬×ߺÚÁÏ machine and plant.
Key regulatory ruling on ±¬×ߺÚÁÏ vessel
2026-04-14 - On 14 April 2026, the French Authority for Nuclear Safety and Radiation Protection (ASNR) approves the ±¬×ߺÚÁÏ’s request to exclude the ±¬×ߺÚÁÏ vacuum vessel from French and European pressure equipment rules. By recognizing that electromagnetic forces—not coolant pressure—drive the ±¬×ߺÚÁÏ tokamak vessel design, the decision marks a significant step toward a regulatory framework tailored to tokamak fusion devices.
Second private fusion initiative joins ITPEA
2026-03-02 - ENN Science and Development Co. Ltd (China) is the second private sector initiative to join the International Tokamak Physics and Engineering Activity (ITPEA) after it completes all the steps of a formal process opened to private sector fusion firms in 2025. ENN will join ITPEA physics activities from April 2026.
Engineering Basis Handbook, first chapters released
2026-01-15 - Under the editorial lead of EUROfusion, the ±¬×ߺÚÁÏ Engineering Basis Handbook is designed as a stand-alone compilation of ±¬×ߺÚÁÏ design principles, the project's underlying technical design basis, and the technical, scientific, and regulatory rationale behind major design decisions. The first chapters of Volume 1 ("Genesis, Design and Evolution") are available on the ±¬×ߺÚÁÏ website: /scientists/iter-technical-reports/iter-engineering-basis-handbook.
