Takeshi Hirai joined ±¬×ߺÚÁÏ on 1 October as Design Engineer (Divertor Integration) in the Tokamak Department.

After studying in Japan, he worked for the Juelich Research Centre in Germany for eight years before coming to ±¬×ߺÚÁÏ.

Takeshi and his wife and one-year-old daughter live in a village near Aix-en-Provence.

Takeshi, who has great interest in architecture, enjoys visiting historical areas of cities when he is not at work.
