An in-depth visit of the LHD stellarator
25 Jun 2013
Japan's Large Helical Device (LHD) will resume its experimental campaigns in late September. For the Unique ±¬×ߺÚÁÏ Team, which convened last week in Tokyo following the ±¬×ߺÚÁÏ Council, the current shutdown phase was a rare opportunity to visit the world's largest superconducting stellarator, whose program was directed from 1998 to 2003 by current ±¬×ߺÚÁÏ Director-General Osamu Motojima.
Easily recognizable (!) in the picture are, from left to right: ±¬×ߺÚÁÏ DDG Carlos Alejaldre, Technical Coordination Assistant Helen Hinton, ±¬×ߺÚÁÏ Council Secretary Sachiko Ishizaka and Director of Japan's National Institute of Fusion Science (NIFS) Prof Akio Komori.
